Honduras This Week Print
Edition HONDURAS THIS WEEK Honduras This Week is a privately owned, independent Honduran newspaper without government connections (national or foreign) and soley responsible to its readers. Honduras This Week is an English language weekly newspaper published 51 Saturdays a year. In addition to a concise review of the top news events making headlines in Honduras each week, HTW also features in-depth reports on subjects of interest to the international community. With a special emphasis on tourism, culture and the environment, HTW is also an excellent source of information on economic, development, human rights, diplomatic and judicial affairs. First published in September 1988, HTW has since earned a loyal following with subscribers in 76 countries. It is also a favorite of the local tourist and foreign resident communities, and is a common resource at Honduran bilingual schools, language schools and universities. HTW has won three international awards, including the 1992 Inter-American Press Association's Globe and Mail Award for In-Depth Reporting and the 1993 and 1994 Amy Writing Award for Outstanding Merit. The online version has won fourteen Internet awards to date. Print Edition Staff Suyapa Carías: a Honduran journalist on staff since 1991,
Suyapa is the editor of the Maya Calendar and covers cultural and social
events. María Fiallos: a long-time U.S. resident with Honduran roots, María is the Managing Editor of HTW and also covers environmental news. Dr. Laura Fox: a graduate of the George Washington University
School of Medicine, Laura is currently doing research on tropical medicine
in Honduras and is covering health topics for Honduras This Week. Rosibel Pacheco de Gutierrez:
on staff since the very beginning, Rosibel handles circulation and
classifieds. She is also Advertising Manager for Honduras This Week Online. Mario Gutierrez Minera:
a Honduran entrepreneur, Mario is the founder, chief editor and publisher of
Honduras This Week. Blanca Moreno: a Honduran journalist, Blanca has been
covering front-page political and national news since 1994. Don Pearly: a U.S. expatriate and the general manager of the
Bayman Bay Club on the island of Guanaja, Don covers tourism, national and
local news concerning the Bay Islands and especially Guanaja. Howard Rosenzweig: a U.S. expatriate and owner of the Casa de
Cafe bed and breakfast in Copan Ruinas, Howard covers tourism news in his
Copan Update column.
Online Edition Staff The online version has won 14 Internet awards to date.Stanley Marrder, webmaster for Honduras This Week Online, is also the listowner for the English language Honduras Dlist, Hondo1. His experience with online newspapers includes The Houston Chronicle Interactive. He is also the Honduweb webmaster and the owner of Marrder Omnimedia. He has won over 25 awards for video, multimedia and internet production including an American Advertising Federation "Addy." Advertising HTW is an excellent arena for international advertising. It is a direct link to readers on each of the five continents, including potential tourists, investors, the diplomatic corps and international businesses.
