HTW on-line wins Traveler's Choice Award The on-line edition of Honduras This Week has been applauded once again -- this time winning the Traveler's Choice Award (TCA) of Exploration.Net. "We encourage you to visit the award winning sites," says the Exploration.Net web page. "You may find that they are truly the very best resources for obtaining travel information on Honduras." Exploration.Net "takes the pain out of pre-travel research by showing you who has what." The site selects its TCAs based on a series of guidelines, including quality of content, user-friendly interface, access reliability, benefit of information to travellers and overall artistic creativity. Only five TCAs can be awarded per country. Five percent of all income generated through Exploration.Net sponsors, and $0.01 for every visit to its Internet Search Page is donated to the expansion of rainforest reserves in Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras and Belize. |

About Honduras This Week is a privately owned, independent Honduran newspaper without government connections (national or foreign) and soley responsible to its readers. Honduras This Week is an English language weekly newspaper published 51 Saturdays a year. In addition to a concise review of the top news events making headlines in Honduras each week, HTW also features in-depth reports on subjects of interest to the international community. With a special emphasis on tourism, culture and the environment, HTW is also an excellent source of information on economic, development, human rights, diplomatic and judicial affairs. First published in September 1988, HTW has since earned a loyal following with subscribers in 76 countries. It is also a favorite of the local tourist and foreign resident communities, and is a common resource at Honduran bilingual schools, language schools and universities. HTW has won three international awards, including the 1992 Inter-American Press Association's Globe and Mail Award for In-Depth Reporting and the 1993 and 1994 Amy Writing Award for Outstanding Merit. Print Edition Suyapa Carias: a Honduran journalist on staff since 1991, Suyapa is currently the diretor of Honduras This Week and editor of the Maya Calendar. Terry Clymire: a contributor since 1993, Terry is from the U.S. and covers environmental, diving, tourism and adventure news, primarily in the Bay Islands. Mara C. Don: a citizen of the Netherlands, Mara is a regular contributor of cultural, travel and national news. Rosibel de Gutierrez: on staff since the very beginning, Rosibel handles circulation and classifieds. She is also Advertising Manager for Honduras This Week Online. Mario Gutierrez Minera: a Honduran entrepreneur and founder, chief editor and publisher of Honduras This Week. Raymond Gutt: a regular contributor since 1995, Raymond is from the U.S. and curently lives in San Pedro Sula. Candace Hammond: a U.S. expatriate, Candace has been writing for Honduras This Week since 1989 and is a regular contributor with her Island Sounds column and other Bay Islands news. William McDonnel: a new arrival from the U.S., a regular contributor of economic and financial reports since 1995. Blanca Moreno: a Honduran journalist who has been covering front-page political news since 1994. Howard Rosenzweig: a U.S. contributor, Howard covers tourism news, writes the Copan Update column. Eric Schwimmer: a longtime U.S. resident in Honduras, Eric has been on staff since the first edition of Honduras This Week was published in 1988. He is a regular contributor of photography and has been managing editor since 1990. He is also editor of Honduras This Week Online. Judith C. Shaffer: a U.S. journalist on staff at Honduras This Week since 1992 as a writer and editorial assistant.
Online Edition Stanley Marrder, webmaster for Honduras This Week Online is also the listowner for the Honduran Internet DList, Catrachos. His experience with online newspapers includes The Houston Chronicle Interactive. He is also the Honduweb webmaster and the owner of Marrder Omnimedia as well as a major stockholder in Galaxy Multimedia. Linda Foss Marrder: A technical writer by trade, writes exclusive articles for the online edition. She is also in charge of site promotion and site management. Dr. Christopher Brogan: Regular contributor for the Central America section.
