efforts to instill the concept of International Humanitarian Law which

Independence and the minorities of Honduras

A firing squad in San Jose, Costa Rica prepares
to execute Central American patriot Gen. Francisco Morazan. Some people
contend that Morazan may have eluded capture and execution had he been
accompanied by his Garifuna lieutenant, Juan Francisco Bulnes.
Each
year on Sept. 15, Honduran students march to celebrate independence. This is
the day Central American independence was declared in Guatemala. Later on
Sept. 28 the country celebrates the day when the parchment (pliegos)
that announced independence arrived in Comayagua, the capital of Honduras at
