HTW says goodbye to star reporter

Honduras This Week said goodbye this month to one of its finest reporters: the inquisitive and unstoppable Larry Lee.

For two years, the U.S.-trained journalist livened up the pages of Honduras This Week with everything from tourist logs and travel tips to exposés on some of the harshest realities of Honduras, including AIDS, prostitution and land mines.

He was also, as many of you may have already guessed, the always moving, always frugal and always vegetarian Sr. Sabor, who took us on a tour of low-cost eateries throughout the Central American isthmus and allowed us to mix with the locals and taste unusual specialties.

Although Larry enjoyed his stay in Honduras, which included visits to some of the remotest parts of the country, it was inevitable that he would eventually be snatched up by a larger U.S. daily and lured back to his homeland.

The native of the Deep South, who holds an M.A. from the Missouri School of Journalism, is now reporting for the El Paso Herald-Post in El Paso, Texas.
