When people die all of their rights are extinguished,
including the right to own property. In most societies, ever since the origin of private
property these rights are inherited by other people. Every person is entitled to dispose
of his/her property and other rights in the way that he/she sees fit, using a document
called a will or testament, which has effect after the death of the person. If a person
does not leave a legally binding document, the law will decide how to dispose of the
