Carnival Shipping Co., of Morgan City, La., has offered to send shipments of materials free, as soon as possible. Appropriate materials for shipping
include lumber, nails and other building materials. Delivery must be made to
Carnival's Morgan City terminal. To coordinate delivery and shipping dates,
call Iliana Sampey toll-free at Carnival, (888) 311-1931 or fax her at (504) 384-5890.

Chiquita
Mr. Brown at 513-784-8036). Allowing relief help and packages from loved ones to be shipped by sea to Honduras for free. Shipments to be consolodated by Tropical Shipping, 12501 NW 38th Ave, Opalocka, Florida 33054.  To be shipped to a Chiquita warehouse in San Pedro and will be distributed to the organizations (i.e. Red Cross, etc.) and private individuals specified on the
packages.

Small donations can add up to relieve the suffering of thousands of people.

The following are easily obtainable items selected from a list provided by the Honduran Secretary of the Exterior.

Food & Water

• Baby food, formula
• Milk—powdered, canned  or long-life
• Drinking water
• Canned Food
• Corn Flour (Masa Harina)
• Beans
• Rice
• Vegetable oil
• Sugar

Medical/Health supplies

• Anti-diarrhea
• Anti-decongestants
• antipyretics (to lower fever)
• Pain relievers: aspirin, etc
• Cotton balls, pads
• Distilled water
• Soaps
• Disinfectants: alcohol, ointments
• Bandages, gauze
• Skin treatments: antibacterial & anti-fungus ointments, powders, lotions, creams
• Disinfectants: alcohol, hydrogen peroxide
• Disposal syringes
• Rehydration salts
• Insect Repellent

Remember that winter clothing is needed in very few areas

• Clothing for adults & children
• Disposable diapers
• Protective gear such as heavy gloves, rubber boots, face masks, goggles, etc.

Note: Be careful about packaging items that are considered dangerous goods for transportation. Chlorine bleach is a needed item for purifying water, but is a dangerous and shipments must be properly marked.

The Honduran Consulate in Houston is recieving donations and can arrange transportation. The first shipment of medicine and food has already been delivered through Continental Airlines accompanied by the media and the Honduran First Lady, Mary Flores. All donations will be channeled through the Honduran First Lady, Mary Flores and Foundation Maria. For monetary donations, the people should send a check to the Consulate payable to the  Honduran Relief Fund.
