artists who left us a great number of archeological treasures in Copan.
The Mayan Empire stretched from the gulf of Mexico to Honduras. Since the
17th century scholars started cataloguin their findings and theories about
the Mayas. 
Ironically, because the city of Copan was forgotten and reclaimed by nature,
buried under earth and forest, it was preserved in remarkable condition,
today the ground water and the inclemencies of the weather are slowly destroying
the sculptures.
